What Are You For?

Have you ever used the expression, or heard someone say, "I hate ____ with a passion" ? A friend of mine posted an article which I thought would be valuable to share. Do you have an easier time defining what you are against or don't believe in rather than what you are specifically for? I was reminded recently of a conversation I had with someone once where they explained to me how they hated something with a passion. It wasn’t a topic about something life-changing and I was surprised that someone would bother to be so passionate about something they hated. My only response at the time was that I would rather save my passion for something thatI loved than to waste my emotional energy on being passionate about hating something.

How about you? What are you passionate about? Do people know what you stand for or are you more vocal about what you stand against? The answer to this question says a lot about the overall direction of your life and whether you are moving on a positive or negative path. In my personal experience, I would much rather be around people who are actively moving toward their dream than people who stand around criticizing others. There is an enthusiasm, positivity, and an encouraging spirit that is contagious when you surround yourself with people who are moving on a positive path. It makes you want to be better. It helps you to see that there is more to life and so much to still be accomplished.

Do you enjoy being around a complainer? We all have those people in our life that can suck the joy out of any situation. You know the ones; as long as their lips are moving, there is very little positive, life-giving words coming out of them. How do you feel after you’ve been around them for a while? You know everything that these people are against, and the overall mood created is negative and depressing. There is no hope, and when hope isn’t present, your body grows sick. If you spend too much time in this company, it can take a while to shake off the funk. For the sake of your own health, you have to limit the amount of time you spend around these people.

So, what type of person are you? Are you the one injecting positivity into those people around you or are you sucking the joy out of those you come in contact with? For the sake of your own health, you absolutely need to know the answer to this question. We all have bad moments and times when we are down, but the quicker we shift our focus back to moving toward our dream and the things that we are hoping and believing for, the more positive our life will be. Listen to what is coming out of your mouth; analyze what you are thinking about. Stop negativity in its tracks. Spread life, health and positivity into the world around you. Let people know what you are for and not what you are against. Never underestimate the importance of being positive on the life of another human being.
